Please read some interesting information about artists according to different sources.

Fedor Encke was a German painter who was born in 1851 in Berlin, Germany. The younger brother of Erdmann Encke who was a sculptor, Encke was the illegitimate grandson of King Frederick Wilhelm II of Prussia and Mistress Wilhelmine Encke, Countess of Lichtenau. Fedor studied under Karl Gussow in Berlin and then went on to study in Rome and Paris. Although he set up a studio in Berlin during the 1880s, he seems to have traveled regularly between Paris and New York painting many American Society sitters, including President Theodore Roosevelt.

Encke's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $888 USD to $32,500 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2010 the record price for this artist at auction is $32,500 USD for Portrait of J. Pierpont Morgan, sold at Christie's New York in 2015. In MutualArt’s artist press archive, Fedor Encke is featured in J. P. Morgan as Cutthroat Capitalist, a piece from the Smithsonian Magazine in 2011. The artist died in 1926.
