Listed Artist H.Schafer 1887 original Antique oil painting, ULM cityscape

Up For Sale This Beautiful Original Antique Oil Painting On canvas depicting the European town Ulm with a cathedral. Ulm is a city in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany, situated on the river Danube on the border with Bavaria.

Signed with a monogram and dated lower left. Presented in an ornate antique gold frame. A gold-tone plate, engraved with the artist's name, the title, and the date, on the front of the frame. 
The frame and painting are in good condition. The frame has wearing signs. Please see the photos, they are part of the description.

Measures with the frame 19.5" X 15.5", painting measures 15.5" x 11.5". 

H. Schafer was born in Hanover, Germany in 1841. he was known to have studied at the l'Ecole National de Beaux-Arts in Paris. After leaving art school, he traveled throughout Europe painting town scenes and buildings in Northern France, Belgium, and Germany. 

Many of his works depict the architecture of Gothic cathedrals and churches. He also produced interior studies of churches.
