This is an original 19-century antique oil painting on canvas, depicting a view of the fortress wall of an old castle, view of the bay with boats. An unusual interesting composition that clearly shows the uniqueness of the architecture of 18-19 centuries.
The reverse of the canvas shows the antique framing fasteners known as Shattuck's ( dated 1883)- invented in 1883 by Aaron Draper Shattuck, a 19-century artist who lived in the North East.
The painting has some crazing and wear, stable craquelure due on age, some cracks. Please see photos, photos - the part of the description. Presents in a vintage wood golden frame. Signed in an upper left corner, probably Margaret Hofhing.
Framed measures 30" x 24", painting by itself - 24" x 18".
