This is an original antique oil painting on canvas depicting a rural winter landscape with a figure standing at the footbridge, a snow-covered cottage to the right beneath a barren tree. A path leading to structures in the background against a pastel sky.
Presented in a gilt frame with the beaded motif.
The reverse of the canvas depicts the antique framing clasps known as Shattuck (dated February13, 1883 - June 16,1885), invented in 1883 by Aaron Draper Shattuck, a 19th-century painter living in the northeast.
Signed indistinctly lower center and dated 1898.
Framed measuring 25" x 18.5" & painting measures 20" x 14" .
Condition: one tiny dull spot to center on the same spot as the back which is the nub on the back, light craquelures.
